Our new CEO

We are delighted to announce that Carla Owen has been appointed our new CEO.
Carla joins us after 10 years at Cruelty Free International. Carla was their Director of Development, Marketing and Communications, where she led the development of a new brand, a high profile partnership with The Body Shop and facilitated a digital transformation programme.
Kit Byatt, Chair of the Board of Trustees said: “We are delighted to welcome Carla as our new CEO at a very exciting time for the charity. She has the passion, skills and strategic leadership to take Animal Free Research UK to the next stage of our growth and support of mission to replace the use of animals in medical research by funding innovative animal free research and techniques. We are very much looking forward to working with her.”
Carla said: “I’m absolutely delighted to be appointed the new CEO of Animal Free Research UK. I’ve long admired the organisation’s work and it is a privilege to join the team to develop our leading role in funding animal replacement research. There are many exciting opportunities ahead in realising our vision of a world where all animal experiments are no longer required and have been replaced by non-animal methods which are human-relevant.”
